Have you ever looked at something and wondered where the material came from that made it? Nearly everything seems to come from a mysterious forest (or “forest”) in Asia or Europe. Well I get the privilege of building nearly all of my projects from lumber sourced right here in the woods of Virginia and Pennsylvania! I’ve worked with some of the most beautiful boards of walnut, oak, maple, cherry and ash, all grown locally and all becoming statement pieces in somebody’s home. Of course, not all lumber can be sourced locally, but it sure is worth knowing that the trees that have been here for ages can continue to live on in our homes.
